The story of our name - Unni Sadan

One day I was talking to Bolan, the local aboriginal elder and tribal leader who has been for 40 years the caretaker of the land where Unni Sadan sits now. I asked him about his family. He grew sad and said that his only son had died before the age of two, which in India means there will be no one to take care of Bolan in his old age.I asked his son's name. They called him Unni and he had brought his parents much joy during his short life.

In several Indian tongues 'unni' means child and sadan means 'home'. Unni is also used to refer to baby Krishna and baby Jesus. At that moment, it became clear to me that Bolan's son would be loved and remembered always by naming the Center in his honor. Seeing the joy spread across Bolan’s face when I told him, I knew Unni had returned.
